An old root canal treatment and bonded filling were in place for several years and they were starting to turn dark.

Furthermore, he had some gaps between his lower front teeth and was not interested in going through another round of orthodontics (braces) to have them closed.
All the old filling materials were removed and a thin layer of enamel (0.3-0.5 mm) was shaved off in order to make space for the veneers.
These delicate, translucent shells are made of a high-strength ceramic to restore both esthetics and function.
The veneers were then adhesively bonded to the teeth.
Veneers allow us to do subtle changes when teeth need to be reshaped. They are also effective at masking light discolorations and, best of all, help preserve as much structure as possible to maximize the lifespan of the tooth.
